OFFICIAL MATHEMATICAL BLUEPRINT
How RRB NTPC 5% Mistake Formula Works
Railway Recruitment Boards evaluate typing tests using an exact 5% error buffer and a 10x penalty for excess mistakes.
Railway Typing Evaluation Equation
Candidates are allowed 5% mistakes of their total typed words without penalty. For every mistake beyond 5%, 10 words are deducted from the total word count!
If you type 350 words, your allowed 5% error limit is 17.5 mistakes. Any error within this limit incurs ZERO penalty.
If you make 22 mistakes, your excess error is (22 - 17.5) = 4.5. Penalty = 4.5 × 10 = 45 penalty words.
Net Words = 350 - 45 = 305 words. Net Speed in 10 minutes = 30.5 WPM (PASS)!

EXAM HALL PROTOCOLS
TCS iON CBTST Do's & Don'ts
Crucial guidelines every railway candidate must follow during the live exam session.
Test Every Key in Mock
Use the 1-minute mock to type all alphanumeric keys, punctuation symbols, and Spacebar. If any key sticks, notify the invigilator immediately to replace the keyboard.
Re-type if Finished Early
If you complete typing the 300-word passage before 10 minutes, press Spacebar and continue typing the passage again from the start to increase your total words buffer.
Avoid Backspace Habit
Backspace is disabled or locked in the official test. Do not stop to fix old errors; keep moving forward at a steady, rhythmic typing pace.
HINDI TYPING GUIDE
KrutiDev 010 vs Mangal Remington GAIL
Font and keyboard compatibility rules specified by Railway Recruitment Boards.
KrutiDev 010 (Remington)

Mangal Remington GAIL
Unicode standard font using the familiar Remington typewriter layout. Supported across all central government TCS iON centers.
Mangal InScript Not Provided
Important: RRB NTPC exam centers generally DO NOT support Mangal InScript. InScript typists should transition to Remington GAIL.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
RRB NTPC Typing Test FAQs
Can I re-type the passage if I finish before 10 minutes in RRB NTPC?
Yes. As per official RRB instructions, candidates who complete typing the given passage within 10 minutes can press the Spacebar or Enter and continue typing the passage again from the beginning to boost their gross word count.
Is Backspace allowed in the actual RRB NTPC exam hall?
In the official TCS iON examination terminal, Backspace functionality is restricted. Candidates must practice typing continuously with high accuracy to avoid costly 10x penalty deductions.
Which Hindi font is available in RRB NTPC exam?
RRB provides KrutiDev 010 and Mangal (Remington GAIL) layouts. Note that Mangal InScript is generally NOT provided at RRB test centres.
Are typing test marks added to the final RRB NTPC merit list?
No. The Computer Based Typing Skill Test (CBTST) is purely qualifying in nature. Your final merit rank is decided 100% on the basis of your CBT-2 marks.
What happens if I make more than 5% errors?
Every mistake beyond the 5% free buffer attracts a penalty of 10 words. For example, 4 excess mistakes will deduct 40 words from your total typed words before calculating Net WPM.
