HOW TO USE THE CONVERTER

Get readable Hindi in four steps.

Copy the underlying Kruti Dev text from your document. It may look like random English letters when its font is not active.

01

Add Kruti Dev text

Paste legacy code or import a supported TXT or DOCX file.

02

Convert the text

Unicode Hindi appears automatically. The convert button runs the same check again.

03

Review the Hindi

Check names, figures, short-i matras, reph, conjuncts and punctuation.

04

Copy or download

Use the result on websites, phones, email, Word and other modern apps.

WHY CONVERT TO UNICODE?

Make old Hindi text usable everywhere.

Unicode Hindi does not depend on one legacy font. It is better for sharing, searching, editing, accessibility and long-term storage.

SEARCH

Find words inside documents

Unicode characters can be indexed by websites, search engines and document search.

SHARE

Use Hindi on modern devices

Paste readable text into email, forms, WhatsApp, social posts and mobile applications.

EDIT

Choose a modern Unicode font

Use Mangal, Nirmala UI, Noto Sans Devanagari or another Devanagari Unicode font without changing the text.

ORDERED CONVERSION

Hindi needs position-aware rules.

Kruti Dev is not converted correctly by replacing one character at a time. Some signs change position around a full consonant cluster.

f

Short-i marker

Kruti Dev stores the short-i marker before a cluster. Unicode displays ि after the consonant sequence.

Z

Reph marker

The legacy reph marker is moved to the correct Unicode position before its consonant cluster.

क्ष

Joined letters

Common conjuncts, half letters, nukta letters and dependent vowel signs use ordered mappings.

NFC

Clean Unicode

The result is normalized so supported Devanagari characters behave consistently in modern software.

Mixed text needs care. A Kruti Dev paragraph can also contain English URLs, email addresses or numbers. Legacy Latin keys can be read as Hindi, so convert known Hindi sections separately.

WORD AND DOCUMENTS

Start from the source file when possible.

A DOCX file normally gives cleaner input than copied PDF text. The importer extracts plain text and leaves your original document unchanged.

DOCX

Plain-text document import

Import text in your browser. Images, tables, columns, headers, footers and exact page formatting are not preserved.

RTF

Word-ready Unicode download

The downloaded RTF opens as readable Hindi in Word with a Unicode Devanagari font.

TXT

Universal plain text

Save a small UTF-8 file for websites, apps, email, databases or later editing.

COMMON PROBLEMS

Why a result may need correction.

The input already shows Hindi

It may already be Unicode. Do not run readable Unicode Hindi through the Kruti Dev input converter.

English URLs become Hindi

Kruti Dev reuses Latin keys. Keep English content outside the selected Hindi section where possible.

Text came from a scanned PDF

A scan contains an image, not text. It needs Hindi OCR before font conversion.

Some letters remain unusual

The source may use a custom Kruti Dev variant, DevLys or mixed font. Check the original font name and proofread.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Kruti Dev to Unicode FAQs

How do I know whether my text is Kruti Dev?

If the Hindi becomes Latin letters and symbols after changing or removing its font, it is likely legacy encoded. Confirm the original font name in Word before conversion.

Is Unicode the same as Mangal?

Unicode is a character standard. Mangal is one font that displays Unicode Devanagari. Your converted text can also use other Unicode Hindi fonts.

Does this support Kruti Dev 010 and 011?

The converter is designed around the closely related standard Kruti Dev 010/011 mappings. Custom variants and mixed font documents should be proofread.

Can I paste the Unicode result on a website?

Yes. Unicode Hindi is suitable for websites, WordPress, search, forms, email and most current phone and desktop applications.

Can I import a DOCX file?

Yes. The importer extracts plain text from DOCX in your browser. It does not reproduce the complete Word layout or embedded objects.

Is my text stored by TypingNation?

No. Conversion happens inside the browser. The converter does not need to send your text or imported document to TypingNation.

Why did an English word convert into Hindi?

Kruti Dev uses normal Latin characters as legacy Hindi codes. A converter cannot always separate real English from those codes, so mixed passages need review.

Should I keep the original document?

Yes. Always work on a copy and keep the source file until you have checked all important names, numbers, matras and formatting.

KRUTI DEV VS UNICODE

What changes after conversion?

The visible Hindi should keep the same meaning, but Unicode gives the text real Devanagari characters that modern software can understand.

COMMON USE CASES

Where readable Unicode Hindi is useful.

WORDPRESS AND SEO

Publish searchable Hindi

Search engines and browsers need real Unicode characters. Convert old articles before adding them to a webpage, title, heading, description or FAQ.

MICROSOFT WORD

Edit with modern fonts

After conversion, choose Mangal, Nirmala UI or another Unicode Devanagari font. Changing between Unicode fonts does not require another character conversion.

PHONES AND MESSAGES

Share readable text

Unicode Hindi can be pasted into email, WhatsApp, social media and mobile notes without asking the reader to install Kruti Dev.

DOCUMENT SEARCH

Find names and phrases

Unicode helps Word, browser search and document systems recognise Hindi words. This is useful when a large archive needs to be searched later.

DATA AND FORMS

Use Hindi in modern systems

Databases and online forms expect Unicode text. Review any length limits and validation rules before submitting converted content.

ACCESSIBLE CONTENT

Support modern text tools

Unicode gives browsers and assistive technology actual Devanagari characters instead of unexplained Latin legacy codes.

BEST PRACTICES

Convert old documents without losing control.

Confirm the source font first

Open the original file and check the selected font. Kruti Dev, DevLys, Chanakya and other legacy families do not all use the same mapping. This page is intended for standard Kruti Dev 010/011-style input. A similar-looking font name is not enough evidence.

Convert a short paragraph first. Compare the result with the original while the correct legacy font is active. If basic words do not match, stop and identify the source encoding instead of converting the full document.

Separate Hindi from real English

Legacy Kruti Dev codes are made from normal Latin characters. A URL, email address or English sentence inside the same input can therefore become Hindi-looking output. Select known Hindi text in smaller sections and add genuine English content back to the Unicode document afterward.

Keep the source and proofread the result

Save an untouched backup. Review dates, amounts, person names, place names, punctuation, short-i matras, reph and joined letters. Unicode conversion improves compatibility, but it cannot repair OCR mistakes, damaged PDF copying or every private font variation automatically.
