WHAT “KRUTI DEV TO MANGAL” MEANS
The converter produces standard Unicode Devanagari. Mangal is a font that can display this Unicode result in Windows and Microsoft Word.
The input depends on Kruti Dev’s old character mapping and may not behave like real Hindi on modern devices.
Ordered rules move matras and reph while mapping common consonants, conjuncts and signs.
The output contains standard Devanagari characters. Apply Mangal in Word if that exact font is required.
IDENTIFY THE SOURCE
Several legacy Hindi fonts can look similar while using different mappings. Check the document before converting a large amount of text.
Kruti Dev 010 or 011 is the expected source for this page. A different family may require another converter.
Samples such as Hkkjr and fganh are common clues that the copied text is legacy encoded.
If the source already stays readable on a phone or website, it may be Unicode and should not be converted here.
Select and convert known Kruti Dev sections separately from English and other Hindi font systems.
MANGAL-READY WORD FILE
The Word-ready RTF uses Mangal as its preferred font. Microsoft Word may use another Unicode Devanagari font if Mangal is unavailable.
Import runs inside the browser and does not preserve tables, images, headers, footers, columns or exact styles.
The result contains Unicode Hindi and can be formatted with Mangal after opening.
Use TXT for websites, databases, email or any workflow that does not need Word formatting.
COMMON WORD PROBLEMS
Kruti Dev uses ordinary Latin keys. Convert known Hindi sections separately and add genuine English content back afterward.
A scanned page contains an image. It needs accurate Hindi OCR before the resulting text can be converted.
The document may use a custom Kruti Dev variation, another legacy font or damaged copied text. Recheck the original font.
Unicode font widths differ from legacy glyph widths. Review line wrapping, tables and page breaks after applying Mangal.
COMMON QUESTIONS
It creates standard Unicode Hindi. Mangal is a Unicode Devanagari font, so you can select Mangal in Microsoft Word to display the result.
No. The two systems store text differently. Convert the Kruti Dev characters first and then apply Mangal to the Unicode output.
The tool is designed around their closely related standard mappings. Custom variants and mixed-font documents should be checked carefully.
You can import plain text from DOCX. Complete formatting, images, tables, columns and other page-design elements are not preserved.
Yes. The result is Unicode Hindi and can be used on WordPress, websites, email, phones and modern applications.
No. Supported document reading and text conversion happen inside your browser.
Kruti Dev uses Latin characters as Hindi codes, so a converter cannot always distinguish a real English URL from legacy Hindi. Convert sections separately.
Choose Mangal when your Word workflow asks for it. The same Unicode text can also use Nirmala UI, Noto Sans Devanagari and other compatible fonts.
BEFORE AND AFTER CONVERSION
Mangal output is Unicode. That makes the same Hindi easier to search, share and move between current applications.
| Point | Kruti Dev source | Mangal / Unicode result |
|---|---|---|
| Stored text | Latin legacy positions are used to show Devanagari shapes. | Actual Unicode Devanagari characters represent each Hindi letter. |
| Required font | Needs a compatible Kruti Dev font to display the intended Hindi. | Can use Mangal or another Unicode Devanagari font. |
| Copy and paste | May turn into Latin-looking code outside its original software. | Normally remains readable across Word, browsers and phones. |
| Search and SEO | Modern search tools do not recognise the stored code as Hindi words. | Hindi can be searched, indexed and published on websites. |
| Long-term use | Keep as a source backup when an older workflow still depends on it. | Prefer as the master copy for current editing, sharing and archiving. |
WHY PEOPLE CONVERT TO MANGAL
Unicode text works with current spellchecking, search and font selection more reliably than old legacy code.
Convert archived Kruti Dev articles before adding them to WordPress headings, paragraphs, metadata or FAQs.
Government and education portals normally expect Unicode Hindi in text fields, although each form’s instructions should be checked.
Mangal-compatible Unicode can be read on modern devices without asking every recipient to install Kruti Dev.
Convert legacy files so names, subjects and Hindi phrases can be found through document search later.
Unicode is better suited to databases and current software. Test a small batch before converting a large archive.
SAFE CONVERSION PRACTICE
Check that the selected Hindi really uses Kruti Dev 010 or 011. A document may contain Kruti Dev, DevLys, Unicode Mangal and English in different paragraphs. Similar visual appearance does not prove that the stored mappings are the same.
Test a short known sentence first. Compare it with the original while the source font is active. If simple words are already wrong, identify the encoding again instead of processing the full document.
Convert known Hindi sections independently. Real English words, URLs and email addresses contain the same Latin characters used as Kruti Dev codes, so they can turn into Hindi if included in the legacy input. Add those parts back after conversion.
First verify names, numbers, dates, matras, reph, conjuncts and punctuation. Then apply Mangal and rebuild the Word layout. Unicode font widths may change line breaks, table height and page count even when every word is correct.
Store the untouched Kruti Dev source for reference and keep the reviewed Unicode document as the modern master. This gives you a reliable comparison if a rare symbol or private font variation needs manual correction later.
