DEVLYS 010 AND UNICODE
Devlys 010 is a legacy Hindi font used with Remington-style typing and older office documents. Unicode stores the actual Devanagari characters, so modern software can search and display the text correctly.
Convert Hindi from established forms, notices and office templates.
Unicode works in WordPress, browsers, search engines and mobile apps.
Save the original Devlys file and the new Unicode copy together.
POSITION-AWARE CONVERSION
A simple letter-by-letter replacement can break matras and joined letters. This converter processes common Remington-style Devlys patterns in the correct order.
The legacy marker is moved to Unicode’s correct position around the consonant.
Reph is restored around the full consonant cluster.
Common forms such as क्ष, त्र, ज्ञ and श्र are handled in order.
Review the Unicode result before downloading or publishing it.
DOCUMENT IMPORT AND DOWNLOAD
DOCX import extracts plain text. It does not rebuild tables, images, page layout, headers or columns.
The file is read locally in your browser and the original stays unchanged.
Open the Word-ready file with Mangal or another Unicode Devanagari font.
Useful for websites, databases, email and modern applications.
COMMON QUESTIONS
Devlys 010 is a popular non-Unicode Hindi font based on the Remington typing workflow. Its stored text needs a matching map to become Unicode.
They are closely related legacy Hindi fonts and often share common Remington-style codes, but documents can contain variant mappings. Always check the source font.
Unicode is the character standard. Mangal is one font that displays Unicode Hindi.
Yes. Unicode Hindi is recommended for websites, search, phones, email and online forms.
Yes. The importer extracts plain text in your browser, but does not preserve complete Word formatting.
No. The file and conversion stay in your browser.
Legacy codes use Latin keys, so mixed English and Devlys passages can be ambiguous. Convert known Hindi sections separately.
The page targets standard Devlys 010-style mapping. Custom variants and damaged source files should be proofread.
KRUTI DEV VS UNICODE
The visible Hindi should keep the same meaning, but Unicode gives the text real Devanagari characters that modern software can understand.
| Point | Kruti Dev 010 / 011 | Unicode Hindi |
|---|---|---|
| Stored characters | Legacy Latin code positions are used to display Hindi glyphs. | Standard Devanagari code points represent the actual Hindi letters. |
| Font dependence | Text may become Latin code when the required Kruti Dev font is missing. | The same text can be shown with many Unicode Devanagari fonts. |
| Web and mobile | Not suitable as normal website or phone text without special handling. | Works in WordPress, browsers, phones, email, forms and current applications. |
| Search | Searching for a Hindi word may fail because the stored text is not Unicode Hindi. | Hindi words can be searched, indexed, selected and processed correctly. |
| After conversion | Keep the legacy source as a backup for the original workflow. | Use the result for modern editing, sharing, databases and online publishing. |
COMMON USE CASES
Search engines and browsers need real Unicode characters. Convert old articles before adding them to a webpage, title, heading, description or FAQ.
After conversion, choose Mangal, Nirmala UI or another Unicode Devanagari font. Changing between Unicode fonts does not require another character conversion.
Unicode Hindi can be pasted into email, WhatsApp, social media and mobile notes without asking the reader to install Kruti Dev.
Unicode helps Word, browser search and document systems recognise Hindi words. This is useful when a large archive needs to be searched later.
Databases and online forms expect Unicode text. Review any length limits and validation rules before submitting converted content.
Unicode gives browsers and assistive technology actual Devanagari characters instead of unexplained Latin legacy codes.
BEST PRACTICES
Open the original file and check the selected font. Kruti Dev, DevLys, Chanakya and other legacy families do not all use the same mapping. This page is intended for standard Kruti Dev 010/011-style input. A similar-looking font name is not enough evidence.
Convert a short paragraph first. Compare the result with the original while the correct legacy font is active. If basic words do not match, stop and identify the source encoding instead of converting the full document.
Legacy Kruti Dev codes are made from normal Latin characters. A URL, email address or English sentence inside the same input can therefore become Hindi-looking output. Select known Hindi text in smaller sections and add genuine English content back to the Unicode document afterward.
Save an untouched backup. Review dates, amounts, person names, place names, punctuation, short-i matras, reph and joined letters. Unicode conversion improves compatibility, but it cannot repair OCR mistakes, damaged PDF copying or every private font variation automatically.
